This special listing is for rare hybrid cactus seedlings. These seedlings are the product of a bridgesii mother plant crossed with the pollen of a trichocereus SS02. The particular bridgesii used for the mother plant is the “Dave Reynolds” variety, which is a a very nice example of the typical bridgesii. It is a little more obscure than other names such as the SS02 variety, which is the plant whose pollen was used to create this hybrid cactus. Also known as Achuma Cactus, trichocereus bridgesii is a Bolivian species related very closely to the San Pedro Cactus. It has much longer spines with a nice bluish-green stem and fewer ribs. Trichocereus SS02 is known for having very ideal bridgesii genetics. Intentionally hybridized caccti are highly sought-after by cactus collectors because of their rarity. Many hybrids also combine genetics of different species to form superior specimens that contain the more desirable qualities of both parents. Crossing presents the collector with endless possibilities. In this case, you have a pure bridgesii, but it comes with great genetics on both sides.
