Sida Cordifolia is a fast-growing, yellow-flowered perennial native to the plains of India, Cambodia and Sri Lanka. But this species can now be found growing in much of the rest of the world, including Africa, Australia, Hawaii and the southern U.S. Sida cordifolia has a serrated, heart-shaped leaf at each node and reaches approximately two to three feet with maturity. It is these heart-shaped leaves that the name “cordifolia” refers to. Sida Cordifolia has had relatively limited herbal use in the United States until recent years, but it has been widely used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. The roots, leaves and seeds are all used. Sida cordifolia is reportedly employed for a variety of purposes including as an anti-inflammatory, a diuretic, a metabolism and energy booster, a bronchodilator, an appetite suppressant and an aphrodisiac. The aerial parts of the plant are known to be significant stimulant with the stems containing the highest levels of alkaloids. Like bitter orange peel, sida cordifolia has become popular a number of energy, weight-lifting and weight-loss supplements.
This product is a 100X powder extract, meaning 100 grams of sida cordifolia were used to make one gram of this extract. This does not always mean it will have the equivalent potency of 100g of herb. The alkaloid content is estimates to be about 1.7%-2%. Other sida extracts that claim to have higher are most likely over-estimating.
