Description
The Red Savina was the Guiness Book of World Records holder for the hottest pepper on the planet until 2007 when it was replace by the Dorset Naga (Jalokia). Tests have shown the Red Savina to measure as much as 577,000 scoville heat units. This rating can be more or less depending on climate. Drier climates with less rainfall will produce hotter peppers. The Dorset Naga (Jalokia) came about through genetic selection in Dorest, England. Specimens of this variety have been tested at 1.6 million Scoville heat units. We also offer seeds of the Dorset Naga and Trinidad Scorpion Moruga, which have usurped the Red Savina as the world record holder for heat. But aside from the heat, the Red Savina Habanero still maintains the habanero’s characteristic sweet undertone, making it a better choice for cooking in many people’s opinion. Mix them with a smokey BBQ sauce for an excellent chicken flavoring.
